Message from LiR President
Dear LiR Members:
We hope this message finds you all safe and healthy.
The process of returning to some kind of normalcy is underway, but continues to take longer than anticipated, and because the health and safety of our membership remains our highest priority, the Executive Council of LiR has voted to cancel all programs for the Fall 2021 session at QVCC. The Executive Council continues to work preparing for a future time when we can gather together again safely for additional exciting and informative learning opportunities. We anticipate planning and presenting a Spring 2022 session.
We are carefully monitoring CDC guidelines, as well as, receiving updates on the CSCU (Connecticut State Colleges and Universities) necessary protocols. We continue to be grateful for the partnership we have with QVCC and appreciate the generous staff support and the benefits of this outstanding facility.
In these challenging times, despite all precautions, vaccinations, and planning that have taken place, we must continue to adapt under some difficult circumstances, keeping in mind that nothing is more important than the well-being of all LiR members.
As always, thank you for your patience and cooperation. Take care and be well.
Mary Saad, LiR President
You are never too old to learn!
LiR at QVCC provides the means to meet the wide range of interests for mature adults who want to pursue new topics or to revisit interests from the past. Our classes and short courses are designed to stimulate the mind and provide a quality social environment in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
LiR is an independent, self-governing membership organization under the auspices of Quinebaug Valley Community College. Formed in 1995 with 120 original charter members, membership has grown steadily and now stands at over 400 individuals. Courses and programs are held in the fall, winter, and spring.
Membership and Fees
Membership is open to all. Yearly membership fees cover the period from September 1 through August 31.
Membership is a prerequisite for enrolling in an LiR course or taking part in any other group activities. A nominal fee is charged for multi-session courses and field trips. Each semester there may also be free courses, seminars, and socials.

Field trip fees vary.

- If Killingly Public Schools has an early dismissal due to weather and there is a 1 pm program, that 1 pm class will be cancelled.
- If QVCC is closed for any reason, LiR programs will not be held.
