Veteran Spotlight

Joel Niemann ’16

joelJoel is a veteran of the United States Army who has served two active duty tours—Kuwait in 2002 and Iraq in 2003. He has used his experiences overseas to guide his educational goals.

In 2013 Joel enrolled at QVCC because of the community atmosphere and individualized approach to learning. While on campus he joined GI Guardians, studied hard, and was awarded the QVCC Foundation’s Sgt. Oscar Thompson Memorial Scholarship for his efforts. He now works at the Veteran’s Oasis at QVCC and will soon receive his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Eastern Connecticut State University

As a psychologist, Joel hopes to help ease veterans’ transition from active duty to civilian life. This important need of our veterans will be well served by Joel Niemann ’16.
