Students may submit up to three original poems! Student award winners will be honored in a celebration on Thursday April 28 from 6:00-9:00 pm, with honored guest poet Bruce Cohen. Details TBA.

PRIZE CATEGORIES
Cash Prizes – 1st $100 / 2nd $50 / 3rd $50 – are offered in each of these five categories:

· QVCC Students – English
· QVCC Students or QMC Students – Spanish heritage speakers
· QVCC Students or QMC Students – Spanish non-heritage speakers
· QVCC Students – Performance Poetry
· Quinebaug Middle College Students

The 14th Annual Julius Sokenu Poetry Awards is scheduled to take place virtually on Thursday, April 29, accompanied by honored guests, The Cornelius Eady Trio. The deadline to submit poetry is April 9, 2021. Learn more.

QVCC Students – Spanish non-heritage speaker
QVCC Students – Performance poetry
Quinebaug Middle College

Join us on Thursday, April 25 at 6pm for an evening of poetry from our very own QVCC and Quinebaug Middle College students. This event is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
