Kirk Duda ’12

Kirk Duda ’12 started at QVCC with a determination to work in film. He was not sure if he wanted to pursue a bachelor’s degree but he knew that for him, the best path would be to go directly to college from high school.

His video production experience at Killingly High School inspired his interest in the field, but his classes at QVCC solidified his interest in media production. Kirk’s classmates at the College became his close friends. They created an inclusive atmosphere that helped him learn in an environment that was different than a typical classroom.

After graduating from QVCC with a General Studies degree in 2012, Kirk went on to earn a Certificate in Digital Filmmaking from Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts. After working for several years as a photojournalist for news stations in New England, North Carolina, and Minnesota, Kirk was offered a position at Seminole State College in Florida as a videographer and photographer. Returing to a higher ed environment has helped Kirk reconnect to his time as a student at QVCC:

“Working at Seminole State College and meeting the students here reminds me of my time at QVCC. Learning more about what scholarships mean to students and how these opportunities impact their lives, and also the lives of students’ family and friends, keeps me passionate about storytelling in videography.”

Kirk uses his access to people to make the world a better place. Check out his work at kirkduda.com.

Thank you for sharing the good news, Kirk!
