April 25, 2019 @ 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm

Thursday, April 25, 5:15pm – 6:15pm in the Library, Room B223, QV@Windham Tech

The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame presents Pushing Past “No:” Overcoming Obstacles on the Path to Success.

Has anyone ever told you that you couldn’t succeed? How have you proved them wrong? Join us for an interactive multi-media program by the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame and be inspired by the stories of some of Connecticut’s remarkable women who overcame obstacles and objections to achieve great things! Learn from the determination of women in science and medicine like Barbara McClintock, Helen Smits and Emeline Roberts Jones, women pioneers in law like Constance Baker Motley and Patricia Wald, female sports icons like Joan Joyce and Donna Lopiano, and others from across all fields of endeavor.

Presenter: Tina Carlson

Tina developed her passion for bringing history to life while participating in Civil War re-enactments as a child in Indiana.  Since moving to Connecticut in 2007, she has honed her Revolutionary War era skills and loves to spin, weave, and is a talented open-hearth cook of 18th Century foods.  Her goal is to inspire the next generation of women towards a love of history and motivate them to be leaders; whether of a large corporation or simply in their own home.

After graduating from Indiana University with a B.A. in theater and a B.A. in journalism, Tina spent over two decades in the theater as an actor, House Manager, and as the Theater Manager of two Broadway (NYC) theaters for the Roundabout Theater Company.  She has also performed on stages in 43 states, Ukraine and Bulgaria. Tina currently sits on the Board of Directors of the New England Theater Conference and serves as their Auditions Coordinator.

Tina has a variety of interests and is an avid researcher.  She is a Board-certified Lactation Consultant, a Connecticut and US History fan, and spends many hours advocating for children with special needs.
