 Climate Action PlanSecondNature_Carbon_Blue

In April 2016, QVCC adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP) which was prepared by a group of faculty, staff, and students in conjunction with the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment guidelines (now Second Nature).  The plan is focused on two overarching goals:
–  To become a climate-neutral College by the year 2050, and
–  To integrate concepts of sustainability throughout the curriculum .

The full text of the CAP can be found at the following link: QVCC Climate Action Plan.

Climate and Energy Shed

The Science Department is in the process of building and outfitting a climate and energy lab to be located in a small building behind the east wing of the College.  This building has recently been equipped with instrumentation to monitor weather conditions which will allow students to explore issues such as climate change and alternative energy issues.  The picture shows the shed in the spring of 2016 prior to installation of the equipment.

Earth Hour 2018

Every year, millions of people around the world join the Earth Hour movement and switch off their lights for one hour to show support for protecting our planet and stopping climate change.

On Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8:30 PM, QVCC joined this global movement by turning off the College‘s non-essential lights for one hour.  We hope to make this a yearly event.  For more information about Earth Hour, please visit https://www.earthhour.org/what-is-earth-hour.
