I chose QVCC because I wanted a college where the professors knew me by name and cared about my success. I started my first semester of Freshmen year at a larger state college and just felt lost. QV provided me with the hands on, personal learning experience that I was looking for. Every professor genuinely cares about the success of their students and understands that everyone learns at different speeds, with different styles. Every class I took increased my knowledge and allowed me to become successful in school and later on in my career.
What is your favorite memory at QVCC?
There are so many! I would have to say that my absolute favorite memory is being in Erin Paganos business classes. She was able to take these intricate concepts and explain them in ways that all of us would completely understand, but in the most outrageous scenarios. I took as many of her classes as I could pack into my schedule while at QV. I will always think of her when I see Twinkies!
What did you do post QVCC graduation?
Post graduation I attended Eastern Connecticut State University where I finished my four year degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Every professor and administrator that I met there always raved that students who come from community colleges end up having some of the highest success rates in their academic careers.
What are you up to now?
I am currently the owner of Ginger Photography in Danielson, CT. I photograph families, expecting mothers, newborns, and seniors. I also specialize in wedding photography where I do everything from engagements, wedding day photography, and even photo booth services. I am absolutely loving building my business from the ground up and capturing the lives and memories of all my clients.
How has QVCC helped to change your future?
QVCC has taught me that you can do anything with your future so long as you are willing to put in the time and effort that it takes. My professors taught me to push myself and my limits with my school work, which has in turn allowed me to push myself in my career and small business growth. It also allowed me to create great contacts and meet some lifelong friends. I would not be the hardworking, dedicated person that I am today had I not stepped foot in QVCC six and a half years ago.
QVCC is a special place to me. Had it been an option, I would have finished my four year degree there. I wouldn’t trade my time there for the world. Thank you to all of my professors who encouraged me to push my limits and keep on trucking.
