Free Naloxone (Narcan) Training at QVCC Through Healthy Campus Grant

Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC) was approved for a continuation of the Connecticut Healthy Campus Initiative (CHCI) grant in the amount of $20,000 for a Campus Opioid Education and Awareness Program; funded by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), with the support of the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).The overall purpose of the grant is to create an opioid education and awareness program for our students, their families, and the community.

In collaboration with the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC) and the CHCI grant, QVCC will offer a free Naloxone (Narcan) training on Thursday, December 5th from 5:00- 6:00pm in room W106. This training will teach participants the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer Naloxone, a lifesaving overdose reversal medication, which will be provided to each participant at no cost. Additional trainings will take place in February and April 2020.
