Gail Rooke-Norman supports the QVCC Foundation because she knows the work done by the Foundation reaches students directly. Gail has supported local charities throughout her life, and when giving to the Foundation she knows her donations go directly to education.
“Education is very important to me. It is the only way my generation can reach as many of the next generation as possible and create better future leaders of the world. It is a circular way of living, those you help will most always come back to help others.”
Gail joined the Foundation over 10 years ago because she wanted to be a part of something bigger than herself. She endowed the Rooke-Norman Women’s Opportunity Scholarship, an annual award to a female student who perseveres to overcome hardship. She truly believes if you recognize someone for working hard, they will work even harder. “Each person has a lifetime of careers inside of them, and it has always been important to me to support a lifetime of learning. This is why the Community College system is so essential. The best way to raise up a community is through the education of its members, because the opportunity of education, throughout all phases of life, will help develop better citizens and decision makers.”
In addition to serving as a director on the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation, Gail Rooke-Norman wears many other hats. She is an Elder Law Attorney, a Director of Jewett City Savings Bank, and has served on many volunteer boards in her hometown of Griswold. Her leadership, kindness, and generosity to QVCC students does not go unnoticed and we thank her for all that she does for us!
