Congratulations on your choice to attend QVCC!

Now that you have been accepted to QVCC, you need to complete the Accepted Student Checklist before you can register for your first semester. If you have questions, please contact ADVISING. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Accepted Student Checklist

 MyCommNet is your student portal where you can register for classes, check financial aid status, order transcripts and more. You should follow the login instructions below before your first advising session.

Log into MyCommNet for the first time:

  • Your NetID: 8-digit number from your BannerID, followed by @student.commnet.edu
    EX: BannerID @87654321 = 87654321@student.commnet.edu
    Your initial password is as follows:

    • 1st three characters of your birth month (first letter capitalized)
    • The “&” symbol
    • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number. Ex: If your birthday is October & social security ends in 6789, your initial password is Oct&6789

College Email

Communications will come to you from your student Email account and you will need to use your student Email when communicating with college faculty and staff. Set up Email

You have to apply for financial aid online. Please note: non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.

We are committed to reducing economic barriers to higher education. The QVCC Financial Aid department is here to help you. Be sure to familiarize yourself with financial aid policies that could effect your ability to keep your aid.

Need help completing the FAFSA for the first time? Contact Philhemina Boone, 860.576.8336 or set up an appointment for “FAFSA help.”

QVCC can now use GPA for course placement and registration. GPA can be in the in the form of official/final, in-progress or self-reported. In addition, SAT scores can be submitted in lieu of testing and GED test scores ≥165 can be submitted and used for placement at college level.

For transfer students who have completed college level math and/or English, please complete this form with your unofficial transcript.

Registration for the Winter & Spring terms opened on October 18. Registration for the Summer & Fall terms will tentatively open on April 1st.

Academic advising is critical to success as a student.

Complete the CT State Community College – New Student Online Orientation to get your certificate of completion. This orientation will help you better understand your next steps as a student, and the many opportunities, resources, and activities within our college community.

College is different than high school. It is your responsibility to request services and accommodations for needs. Students who wish to disclose a disability are encouraged to do so as early as possible.

Text Books

Due to COVID-19: You will need to purchase your textbooks and materials online through our campus boookstore as the campus store is closed at this time. You are able to use any major credit card, PayPal, or Financial Aid as your payment option.  If you are using Financial Aid, remember to start your banner ID with the @ symbol during the checkout process. It is strongly suggested you make your purchases sooner than later as package delivery times may be extended as a result of nationwide Covid-19 impacts.

NOLO

Many QVCC classes have textbooks at no cost or low cost. NOLO will be noted next the course in MyCommNet.  LEARN MORE

Bookstore Location

QVCC Danielson campus bookstore is located adjacent to the Atrium. Windham Tech students are encourage to use the Danielson bookstore.  There are many other options outside of the College for buying books.
