COMPUTER BOOTCAMP

This 8-hour course is ideal for the beginning computer user. It will give you the foundation for working on a Microsoft Windows-based personal computer or laptop. Students will learn the basics of computer hardware and software, how to navigate the desktop, Internet search strategies, file management, and Blackboard. Students will become familiar with the Windows operating system, email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications. Course activities include drafting emails, creating a flyer, creating a chart, creating a slideshow, as well as class discussions and collaborations.

EXCEL BASICS

Gain a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel in this 6-hour course that utilizes Office 365. Students will learn the basic features of Excel, including creating, saving, and editing basic spreadsheets. Basic formulas and functions will be introduced, but basic formatting will be the focus.

EXCEL: BEYOND THE BASICS

Explore Excel’s intermediate-level features in this 6-hour course. Students will create and work with charts, functions, conditional formatting, and sorting. The course will also focus on tips and tricks to ensure your spreadsheet looks great for that next meeting or presentation.

CareerConneCT provides training needed for high-demand, high-quality careers in Connecticut. IT Support Certificate

The IT Support Certificate is designed to give learners the skills they need for an entry-level IT role. The certificate course teaches skills including how to build a computer and install an operating system, system administration and security, networking, and troubleshooting. This certificate is composed five classes that work in progression from beginner level to advanced level. Participants that take this certificate will also earn five individual industry recognized certificates in addition to the overall IT Support Certificate.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will learn how to use the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
  • Students will achieve an intermediate level of understanding on all five applications. Students will be tested on each application to ensure their understanding of each application.
  • The A+ certification validates understanding of the most common hardware and software.
  • The general skills and knowledge required to support complex IT infrastructures.
  • Knowledge and skills needed to confidently design, configure, manage and troubleshoot any wired and wireless network configuration.

CareerConneCT IT Track: Web Developer Certificate

A Web Developer is responsible for ensuring websites look good and function properly. Web developers collaborate with website and graphic designers, monitor website traffic, troubleshoot website problems when they arise, and update websites as necessary. These classes are offered in a progression from beginner to advanced level which will also enable participants to earn four individual industry recognized certificates in addition to the overall Web Developer Certificate.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will learn HTML programming for the web
  • Students will learn Cascading Style Sheet formatting.
  • Students will learn some of the most popular web tools such as WordPress and Wix
  • More advanced topics such as CMS and Building Dynamic Websites will also be covered.

CareerConneCT IT Track: Information Security Certificate

A security certificate is used to provide the security level of a website to general visitors, Internet service providers (ISPs) and Web servers. A security certificate is also known as a digital certificate and as a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate. These classes are offered in a progression from beginner to advanced level which will also enable participants to earn six individual industry recognized certificates in addition to the overall Information Security Certificate.

  • Identifying the fundamental concepts of computer security
  • Security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Manage data, Applications, and Host Security
  • Implement Network Security
  • Manage Certificates
  • Identify and Implement Compliance and operational security measures

Prerequisite:

Candidate must have experience in information technology. Preferred experience with Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security. Per ISC²: A candidate who doesn’t yet have the required experience to become a CISSP may become an Associate of (ISC)² after successfully passing the CISSP exam. The Associate of (ISC)² will then have six years to earn the experience needed for CISSP certification.


CareerConneCT IT Track: Network & Cloud Certification

This certification is intended for individuals with five years of hands-on experience architecting and implementing network solutions. Candidates should have experience with AWS security best practices, AWS storage options, and AWS networking, have knowledge of advanced networking architectures and interconnectivity options, and be able to design, implement and optimize global, cloud networks. These classes are offered in a progression from beginner to advanced level which will also enable participants to earn four individual industry recognized certificates in addition to the overall Network and Cloud Certification.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Able to build solutions for account security,
  • Monitoring, automation
  • Understanding of AWS services like AWS Lambda, AWS X-Ray, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud, and more.
