For Spring 2021, our programs will once again be held in an online format. Our programs are live remote programs, which means the instructor and learners utilize webcams and microphones to interact in real time.

Leadership @ All Levels

Module 3 & Module 4

QVCC’s popular Leadership @ All Levels program is a proven method of increasing your employees’ value to their colleagues, teams, and organization. Modules can be taken in any order and Module 1 & 2 will be held in Fall 2021. Completers of all four modules receive a certificate in leadership and a commemorative plaque.

Being an effective supervisor means working with others to achieve a department’s goals and objectives. This workshop reviews a supervisor’s major responsibilities, and shows them how to utilize their authority for the benefit of their staff and department.

Error Reduction & Human Performance Fundamentals

If your company isn’t managing human error,  then human error may be managing your company…

In QVCC’s new Error Reduction & Human Performance Fundamentals workshop, learners will develop a new perception and understanding of detecting, preventing, and correcting mistakes.  Completers will learn how to focus and properly perform critical steps – every time – and will demonstrate understanding of human performance principles.

Session 1. Understanding Human Performance Theory & Principles

  • Define error and how it may be provoked
  • Outline the 5 human performance principles

Session 2. Reducing Error & Decreasing Frequency of Events

  • Identify the phases of work execution where error prevention can apply
  • Recognize factors that increase the likelihood of error
  • Describe 3 modes of performance and how they impact tasks

Session 3. Managing Defenses & Reducing Severity of Events 

  • Identify the different controls that make up organizational defenses

Session 4. Applying Organizational Drift 

  • Describe a real-world event in terms of:
    • The event
    • Work as imagined vs work as performed
    • Flawed defense & error precursors
    • Latent organizational weaknesses

Session 5. Using Error Avoidance Tools and Techniques 

  • Describe the use of error prevention tools and techniques
  • Recognize what can provoke us into error and likely error situations

Managing Remote Teams

As many have learned in the COVID-19 era, bringing team members together through a virtual environment can be a challenging task. This workshop helps participants identify these challenges and push through to success.

Conflict Resolution Workshop

Conflict is inevitable – whether it is productive or harmful depends on how it is managed. This workshop will give participants a conflict resolution process that they can use and modify to resolve conflict disputes of any size.

  • Differentiate the five main styles of conflict resolution

Stress Management Workshop

The trick to Stress Management is to maximize the positive stress and to minimize the negative stress, but this trick has been more challenging than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Stress Management workshop will give participants a three-option method for addressing any stressful situation, as well as a toolbox of skills to reduce stress.

  • The Triple A Approach to stress (Alter, Avoid, or Accept)
  • Utilizing relaxation techniques
  • Coping with major events
  • Identifying stressors through a stress log
  • Creating a plan to reduce or eliminate stressors

Communication Strategies Workshop

On the surface, interpersonal communication seems simple: Someone talks and someone else listen. Managers provide instructions and employees follow.

But how many times has “simple” communication gone wrong in your workplace? How many failures were traced back to a root cause of ineffective communication? Our Communication Strategies workshop gives participants the basic knowledge and tools necessary to ensure that interpersonal communication is used effectively and consistently in the workplace.
