Learning new subject matter can be difficult, and sometimes you may need a little help. The Learning Center provides tutoring support to QVCC students of both the Danielson campus and the Willimantic center.
Whether it is math, English, Spanish, or another course which you find challenging, we encourage students (or groups of students) to meet with our tutors. A few sessions with a tutor can help you stay on track with your course work.

Testing in the Learning Center
***Please Note: Accuplacer testing is currently being conducted remotely. All other testing on campus is limited. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information regarding CLEPs, DSSTs, and CBEs.
The Learning Center administers the Accuplacer Basic Skills Assessment (BSA) test to all prospective students. Information about the BSA test including how to schedule a test can be found on our Assessment Testing page. Sample tests and other materials to help you prepare for the BSA test can be found at the following link: Next Generation Sample Questions and Practice Tests
The Learning Center also provides proctored testing for QVCC students that includes CLEP, DSST, CBE (credit by examination).
CLEP and DSST testing are provided through outside services and all are fee-based. CLEP and DSST provide transferable college credit if completed with a passing score. Appointments are required, please contact William Army at (860) 932-4055 to schedule an appointment.
Credit by Exam (CBE) tests are QVCC-provided tests that can be taken to gain college credit at QVCC. CBE’s provide QVCC credit only; CBE credits do not transfer and the CBE does not effect the student’s GPA. Students must be currently registered in at least one credit class at QVCC, have the permission of the faculty member in charge of the subject area, and pay a $35.00 fee to take a CBE.
All testing requires a photo ID to be shown upon arrival. Students who do not have a photo ID with them will not be permitted to test until a valid photo ID is produced.
Complete information on testing is available in the Learning Center.
