QVCC Foundation Member

Joe Markley joined the QVCC Foundation in 2014 after a spontaneous conversation with Monique Wolanin at Zip’s Diner. However, this unplanned conversation was not the first he heard of the QVCC Foundation and the opportunities they provided to local students. Joe first learned of the QVCC Foundation from his lifelong friend Sean Doyle. Sean had been a member for several years after his family endowed a scholarship in memory of his brother Ryan Doyle. Joe noticed the impact of Ryan’s scholarship and was eager to know more about all the QVCC Foundation did.

After his conversation with Monique, he became a member and jumped right into the Scholarship Committee. On scholarship committee, your duty is to read applications and advocate for students who are deserving of scholarships. While reading, Joe realized that not only were the students applying for aid smart but also hardworking. Each student had a unique story of them overcoming an obstacle and realizing the importance of achieving a higher education. After reading the applications and attending scholarship night, Joe knew how important The QVCC Foundation was to this community.

“It is important for me to support The QVCC Foundation because it allows smart, driven, and motivated people in the area to achieve a higher education without being strapped with student debt.”

Joe has worn many hats on the Foundation over the years; he served as the chairs of the Donor Solicitation Committee and Finance Committee, and currently serves as Vice President.  He puts 100% into all of his responsibilities on The QVCC Foundation. It is individuals like Joe who make a difference in students’ lives every day. On behalf of them and The QVCC Foundation we would like to say, “thank you Joe!”
