Melissa Stough, HR Recruiting and Retention Specialist at Project Genesis Inc., will visit the QVCC campus on April 18 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Project Genesis serves adults and students with disabilities throughout Windham, New London, and Tolland counties, and has been named a “Top 2022 Work Place” by the Hartford Courant (also received this distinction in multiple years prior to 2022).
Melissa will be available to speak with students who are interested in helping those with disabilities for full-time, part-time, and per diem opportunities. This could include students wanting to become teachers, social workers, school counselors, and so forth. Students are encouraged to bring a current résumé or outline of work experience.
Job Information and Requirements
COMPANION
Work 1 on 1 with individuals with brain injuries to provide non-medical care, supervision and socialization in accordance with the client’s service plan. H.S. Diploma or equivalent required, experience working with persons with disabilities preferred. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license. 2nd and 3rd shifts available daily throughout Windham, New London, and Tolland Counties.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINER
Deliver individualized services to persons with acquired brain injuries with the intent to improve ability for individual to live independently in community. H.S. Diploma and 2 yrs experience working with ABI or Bachelor’s Degree and 1 yr experience working with ABI required. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license. 1st and 2nd shifts available daily throughout Windham, New London, and Tolland Counties.
EDUCATION MENTOR
Work 1 on 1 with students with Individual Education Plans in community settings. Human Services or teaching experience required. Knowledge of mental health related issues, transitional skills including job coaching, and daily living skills helpful. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability to obtain an Endorsement A upon hire. 1st shifts available on weekdays throughout Windham, New London, and Tolland Counties.
