Commissioner Cook Visit: Careers in Corrections and Trends in the Field

Commissioner Rollin Cook

Commissioner Rollin Cook will visit QVCC on Thursday October 3rd at 6:30 in C127 for a lecture about criminal justice careers, his path to becoming Commissioner, trends within Connecticut’s corrections system, and inmate rights. Following the lecture, students will have the opportunity to ask the Commissioner about any correctional topics, including hiring trends within the Department of Corrections.

Commissioner Cook will share what his day-to day jobs have entailed throughout his extensive background as a criminal justice professional, as well as where the department of corrections is heading and how the state budget is impacting changes within the system.

Commissioner Cook was formerly the executive director of the Utah Department of Corrections, where he oversaw a system with 2,200 employees and more than 7,000 inmates, and was previously a correctional officer, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and chief deputy in the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
