Released January 24, 2017
Celebrating Chinese New Year is an annual event at Quinebaug Valley Community College.
On January 31 and February 1, students and staff will be sampling Chinese food, learning about calligraphy, participating in a Chinese tea ceremony, or watching a demonstration of Wushu, a martial art similar to Kung Fu.
The college will also be hosting a special music and dance presentation by the Kang Hua Singers of Greater Hartford and Dream Performing Arts. The concert will feature the award-winning artistic director, Chai-lun Yueh, a dramatic baritone and the first Chinese-born American musician to receive a Grammy nomination. The performance will take place in the Robert Miller Auditorium at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 1. The public is invited and admission is free.
