Climate and Energy Shed
The Science Department is in the process of building and outfitting a climate and energy lab to be located in a small building behind the east wing of the College. This building will soon be equipped with instrumentation to monitor weather conditions and allow students to explore issues such as climate change and alternative energy issues including solar and wind power. The picture shows the shed prior to installation of equipment in the spring of 2016.
Climate Action Plan
In April 2016, QVCC adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP) which was prepared by a group of faculty, staff, and students in conjunction with the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment guidelines (now Second Nature). The plan is focused on two overarching goals:
To integrate concepts of sustainability throughout the curriculum; and
To become a climate-neutral College by the year 2050.
